First a passion, then a profession

I got my start in photography – “I'm not so sure how or when” – when I was
about 18 years old. No, it was indeed before then, at 10, when my father gave me a Polaroid.
I still preserve these images: the curious portraits of a typical bourgeois family
in the year 1980.

Then, during my years at university, I spent night after night in the darkroom, in order
to experiment with exposure levels according to Man Ray, along with images in high and
low key, plus hours and hours of heat from "photoflood", to take photos of friends –
and lend a new form to this art with the effects of Rembrandt-esque light.

In 2003, I made my first timid foray into the professional world, and then ...
some doors remained shut while others were opened (!)
I have my own individual approach to the art of photography, to my preferred subjects –
and these are in line with my basic attitudes towards art and life. My commissioned work
has come about based on this premise: Small but beautiful.

The exhibitions mark the precise moment at which I reach a given starting point –
and already begin to contemplate the start of the next project. To be able to meet the market's
requirements (but not merely for this reason), I have broadened my professional skill horizons.
I am an "Adobe-Certified Expert" in Photoshop CS2 and work as an instructor;
I am also a post-production consultant.

Since 2009, I conduct Laboratori di FotoRacconto at comprehensive schools and at the
Cultural Centres of Rome. To ignite interest and passion in others is like shining
a bright light onto the outside world.

On may 2011, there was the opening of makemake spazio & arte in Rome.
A project with the aim of approaching as many people as possibile to art.
